Volunteer on Wildlife Projects in Belize

Program Description

Volunteer on Wildlife Projects in Belize

Description

Join this GVI wildlife project and travel to Belize to work on a variety of research projects in a number of locations and National Parks around the country. You will be helping with the practical conservation of national parks and archaeological sites. On a daily basis you will be involved in research, education and helping with general tasks such as conducting manatee surveys, assessing jaguar populations and running environmental field courses.

The program starts with a five day orientation and training, where you will learn the basic skills needed for your job at the placement. You will also be briefed on living and working in Belize, cultural awareness, and general health and safety issues. Then you will move to your placement, where you will stay for two months or more. Placements are available with Wild tracks (a conservation organization), the Belize Audubon Society and the Belize Institute of Archeology.
