Description
United Planet's Quest Volunteer Abroad program offers you or your group a life-changing opportunity to interact with local communities through customized work experiences, cultural activities, and home stays. United Planet Quests are offered in 50 countries from 1-52 weeks. Chile Healthcare:
United Planet volunteers will work in a sala de enfermos" or a room for sick people. There are 80 beds in a two-story building and the beds are usually all occupied. Most of your volunteering will involve comforting and talking with patients. There are doctors and nurses who visit and perform basic medical procedures such as taking blood samples. Other volunteers will typically be Chilean nursing and medical students. A medical background is not necessary but is always welcome! There is a telephone interview with United Planets coordinator in Santiago prior to entering this particular quest, which is offered all year.
