Learn more about volunteering abroad in France!

Volunteering in France is a tremendous opportunity to experience life in one of the most interesting countries in the world. With a rich history of royalty and revolt, the French take pride in their past. Relics can be found in nearly every corner of major cities, where you can imagine anyone; from Louis XIV, to Hemingway, to Monet; trotting through in a carriage or crouched over some form of art. In spite of their fierce pride for their culture, the French are also known for their “greves” or strikes. Currently on their fifth republic, the French have overhauled their government five times since the Revolution of 1789. Their blunt and forthwith national pride should not intimidate the foreigner. Alongside love for their country, exists a deeply self-critical eye; a duality which helps make France an incredibly exciting place to volunteer in.

The French are open to the assistance of volunteers, whether help comes in the form of discussion or in a more tangible form, such as English teaching or house-building. There are several well-established volunteer programs in France that provide an array of possibilities and demand different levels of experience. Take the step from tourist to resident and settle into a province of France, where you will not only create an indulgent and satisfying personal experience (most likely involving wine & cheese), but also volunteer to help to those in need. Read through the programs reviews below and start to plan your journey as a volunteer in France. Remember to review your experience when your program is finished!
