Learn more about volunteering abroad in Kenya!
“Karibu” and welcome to the volunteer in Kenya page. Volunteers in Kenya will be provided with an enriching and life changing experience, with first hand opportunities to help people in this kind and welcoming nation. Kenya, though some may not expect it, is a green, luscious country with a poor infrastructure out of the cities, and an overwhelmed school system. There is still a huge problem with HIV/AIDS awareness and corruption and systems within the country often prevent progress. Volunteers will get involved with a range of projects from planting trees, to building medical centers and the running of women’s self help groups. Volunteers will also be able to go on safari and stay in a traditional Kenyan lodge, take boat trips on the beautiful Lake Victoria, learn how to make Fairtrade items, take horseback rides through rural villages and eat Kenyan food in Nairobi’s top restaurants. The people of Kenya are helpful and generous and will share their last chicken with you in a heartbeat. Any volunteer in Kenya will take a piece of the country away in their heart.
Volunteers abroad in Kenya can be placed either in the major city of Nairobi, the smaller town of Kisumu or in the rural areas of the Rift Valley and beyond. Programs range in length but most recommend staying as long as you can. Check out the programs below to find your perfect fit. Volunteering in Kenya will be an experience you will never forget.
