Description
Spend your time in Kenya getting to know local communities through meaningful volunteer opportunities at an IDP Camp, an orphanage, and with several women's empowerment projects.
While not volunteering, take in the beauty of Kenya through a safari in Lake Nakuru National Park, a boat ride with the hippos on Lake Naivasha, and a village walk through Mwariki.

Highlights
In Kenya, visit several income-generating projects designed to empower communities to overcome poverty and the devastating effects of the AIDS epidemic. Visit an IDP (internally displaced persons) camp and help with sustainable-development initiatives including community gardens, orchards and micro-finance projects. Also assist with renovations and construction of a new medical facility, projected to serve 80,000-120,000 individuals. Marvel at the beauty of Lake Nakuru. Try to spot the "Big Five" while on safari. Stay in unique, locally-owned hotels and eco-lodges and sample the unique fusion cuisine of Kenya.

Kenya Community Development
We traveled with the Village Experience to Kenya in Jan. 2011. Our accomadations were amazing. We stayed in beautiful tents right in the heart of Kenya ! Working with TVE's projects throughout this country was very rewarding! We voluntered in IDP camps, Women projects, Street Kid's projects and even helped open up a new school completely funded by friends of TVE. Our Safari in the Masai was unforgetable. We had the best Guides and Drivers! We will be going on another TVE trip soon !!
